STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It is a derivative from its earlier version, STEM, but extending the educational journey through hands-on arts education. The STEAM approach is designed to ignite a child’s imagination with experiential learning in a fun-filled environment.

The Sayed’s

The Sayed’s are excited to share their love of S.T.E.A.M with the leaders of tomorrow in the wonderful community of Stouffville, through Idea Lab Kids.

As busy parents to three young learners, Asim and Christine value a hands-on approach to education. Idea Lab Kids Stouffville brings learning to life through imagination, encouragement, and confidence empowering opportunities to strengthen a child’s ready for anything attitude.

Asim is an Ontario Certified Mathematics and Computer Science Teacher, with over 10 years of experience in the classroom, and 5+ years of curriculum development, project management and teacher training. While Christine is proud to work in policy and program development for over 5 years with one of Canada’s top 100 employers and top family friendly employers. Christine, also brings with her over 10 years’ experience working within the criminal justice system, including program management, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Asim has a long history of guiding students to excellence in some of North America’s most prestigious competitions. These include winning two CASCON IBM contests; and ranking in the top 25% in Mathematics and Computer Science contests at the University of Waterloo, both in Canada and internationally. Asim’s alumnus have moved on to great success by attending some of the most esteemed schools in the world, including Brown, Columbia, Smith College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of St. Andrews, Cambridge, University of Waterloo, McGill, Queen’s, University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto.

Asim and Christine are motivated and passionate individuals, who understand the unique process of education and believe in the theory of lifetime learning. They strive to relate each concept of S.T.E.A.M to an individual’s interest level, by supporting their belief in self, and providing clear guidance that demonstrate imaginative and creative real-life applications.

Asim and Christine believe in giving back to their community through volunteer work with local community leadership groups and school councils. They draw on their past experience to create learning opportunities that build a better future for themselves and those they lead.

The Sayed’s enjoys spending time with each other, gardening, cooking, experimenting, and learning. They share a passion for lifelong learning and community enrichment. Idea Lab Kids is their beliefs and passion in action. They look forward to building a strong S.T.E.A.M foundation in the young leaders of tomorrow.
